Scrying solo ttrpg review

I was intrigued by Scrying: Alone in the Psychomanteum by Javier M. Vadillo because I have used the Psychomanteum process before in real life paranormal investigation with interesting results. The idea of a game based on the concept sounds amazing.

Scrying is a short game that can easily be incorporated into other games like Call of Cthulhu or my own ttrpg Phantoms.

To play you will need a standard 52 card deck and a six-sided die.

Scrying Playthrough

I rolled 3 on my d6 and pulled 3 cards.

Card 1: Queen of Diamonds

I rolled a 1 to receive a vision of the Divine and Luminous World, involving everyday objects, and something or someone alive.

Card 2: 3 of Clubs

I rolled a 5 to receive a vision of the Infernal and Dark World, involving constructions/buildings, and something or someone apparently alive.

Card 3: 10 of Diamonds

I rolled a 6 to receive a vision of the Infernal and Dark World, involving everyday objects, and something or someone familiar to me.

The juxtaposition of the Divine and Luminous World and the Infernal and Dark World along with all of the visions dealing with something or someone alive (and familiar) could relate to a person or small group of people who are at odds or are being put at odds with themselves/each other by forces greater than them by the means of a seemingly everyday object at a location that would look ordinary to the common eye but is actually the location of something quite sinister…

I’m looking forward to trying this mini game/technique in a larger game in the future.

If you or your game has someone who is psychic or inclined to attempt a psychic experiment, this would be a really cool thing to add to your session.

Love it.
