I saw Life of Belle shared on Twitter by fellow horror buffs, some saying it will likely be the best movie they’ve seen this year. After the same buffs turning me onto When Evil Lurks, I was ready to believe them.
Life of Belle is a microbudget found footage horror movie focusing on a family of four. Belle’s father gives her a much wished for camera so she can start a YouTube channel of her own. He also has cameras installed in the kids’ bedrooms, play room, and living room presumably for child safety. When he leaves for a few days for work, Belle’s life starts becoming a little too interesting as her mother’s sanity is put to the limit.
Content Warnings: death, child death, child abuse, parental mental health crisis, eye injury.
Emotionally BRUTAL
I was so anxious while watching this film. Not only because of what was happening but I was also second guessing the nature of the film and what I was seeing.
I cried during one moment with Belle sharing her fears. I had my hands over my mouth and face for so much of this movie, watching between my fingers for the final twenty minutes. Even took a break to breathe during one tense moment with the mom.
As a parent this movie was gut wrenching.
The kids in this movie deserve Oscars. They did such an amazing job!
I really hope to see more from the Robinson family in the future.
I recommend Life of Belle for found footage horror lovers as well as fans of Paranormal Activity and Hereditary.
