Lisa Frankenstein was finally released to rent or buy and I snatched it up and watched it as soon as I could. After seeing so many people share images, gifs, and clips of this movie, I already suspected I would be in love.
A coming of RAGE love story about a teenager and her crush, who happens to be a corpse. After a set of horrific circumstances bring him back to life, the two embark on a journey to find love, happiness – and a few missing body parts.
If you enjoy Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992) or shipped Lydia and Beetlejuice at one point, then you will love Lisa Frankenstein.
Its a tongue in cheek, retro teen slash fest with a feel good romance.
The actors did amazing – Kathryn Newton and Carla Gugino were masterful of course.
Diablo Cody does not miss the mark with her work and this one is no different.
Certain lines of the movie will stay with me from Lisa’s explanation about The Cure to “Time is the wound.”
Then there’s the set and costuming that blew me away more than anything else. Every outfit, every strand of lights, the neon and the styling – this movie is AESTHETICS! The new goth kids who were already inspired by the show Wednesday will have a new role model for their looks.
If this movie had come out when I was a teenager I would have likely made it my whole personality.
Excuse me while I go watch this on repeat for the foreseeable future.
